The Foundation for Local News, Inc. focuses attention and resources on the local news ecosystem in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, and beyond, enabling local news to not only survive, but thrive, which in turn promotes democracy and citizen engagement.  

The Foundation for Local News provides charitable support to improve the local news ecosystem, creates educational opportunities for high school and college students, facilitates advances in local news infrastructure, and heightens public awareness about the local news crisis. 

Through a partnership with TAPinto, we combine civic impact with business ownership, enabling TAPinto to provide training, technology, and infrastructure for people to own and operate local news platforms in their communities and fill news deserts. 

As a 501(c)(3), we provide charitable support, advance journalism, and raise awareness of the local news crisis to rebuild a stronger, more connected democracy.
